I Re-Created 5 Photogenic Outfit Trends I Keep Seeing on Instagram

[ad_1]

The other day I told my husband that I might’ve forgotten how to put outfits together, which I probably shouldn’t admit, given my profession. While it’s an overstatement, the truth is that I probably am a little rusty after a year spent in sweats and slippers, but things are starting to look up for 2021, and I’m starting to think about what I’m going to wear now that the weather is getting nicer.

Instagram is pretty much my #1 source for outfit trend spotting, and so to get myself out of this year-of-lockdown style rut, I chose 5 looks that chic women recently posted to their feeds, and re-created them with pieces I already own. I can’t say that I looked quite as cool as they did, but some of the outfits got me out of my comfort zone (in a good way), and I’d wear all of them again. Mission accomplished.

Read on to see which spring outfit trends I copied and shop the looks for yourself.

Outfit Trend: Oversized Blazer with a T-Shirt, Loose Trousers, and Sneakers

This was one of my favorite outfits of the bunch. It’s perfect for those days when it’s too warm for a jacket but too cool for bare arms. And the sneakers make it a little more appropriate for these casual (sartorially speaking) times we’re living in.

Almina Concept The Oversized Tencel Blazer ($158)

Madewell Northside Vintage Tee ($16)

Madewell Pleated Taper Wide-Leg Pants in Mini Houndstooth ($110)

Veja Esplar Sneakers ($120)

Prada Cleo Brushed Leather Hobo Bag ($2050)

Outfit Trend: Shrug Sweater with a Tank Top and Baggy Jeans

Like everyone else, I ordered a shrug sweater a few months ago, but have only worn it once. I felt like I needed a full sweater during the winter but now that things are warming up, I plan on finally using it to its full potential. I like how Imani Randolph kept it simple and ’90s-inspired with a tank top and baggy jeans.

Outfit Trend: T-Shirt With a Tennis Skirt, Crew Socks, and Sneakers

Tennis skirt outfits were suddenly everywhere last summer and since people are still wearing them, I say might as well. I like how Claire Most paired hers with an oversized T-shirt. It makes it look a little more effortless.

Urban Outfitters Smile Face Sport Crew Socks ($10)

Reebok Classic Lace Up Joggers ($75)

Outfit Trend: Trench Coat with a Bra Top, High-Waisted Jeans, and Loafers

I had so much fun wearing this for a few minutes and plan on re-wearing it outside. I wear jeans and a T-shirt often, so it’s always nice to find ways to mix things up. I wore my new Reformation sports bra instead of a knit bra top and I think it worked just as well and it provided a bit more coverage.

Mango Belt Flowy Trench ($120)

Reformation Ivy Ecostretch Cropped Tank ($48)

Reformation Kris High Rise Relaxed Curve Jeans ($128)

Prada Leather Logo Loafers ($950)

Outfit Trend: Sweatshirt with Bike Shorts, Nike Socks, and New Balance Sneakers

I think if I had to change something about my version of this Princess Diana-inspired outfit, it would be a slightly shorter pair of bike shorts and a longer sweatshirt. Other than that, it’s an easy outfit idea for when you just want to be comfortable in the spring.

Get the look:

Reformation Marla Button Sweatshirt ($78)

Outdoor Voices Flex 3.5″ Shorts ($48)

Jacquemus Le Grand Chiquito Bag ($760)

Nike Nike Everday Cushion Crew Sock 6-Pack ($20)

New Balance 990v5 Sneakers ($175)

Next up, 18 spring It items that aren’t that expensive.
